The Begining

Computers are what started the rapid progression in all fields of technology and other areas of art. WIth out the advancement of computers, we would be no where near the level of art we are at now. Even though the first computers were meant for solving math equations, they were still a building block for todays world. I found an awesome website that discusses the history of computers, check it out!

http://campus.udayton.edu/~hume/Computers/comp2.htm

This photo shows how different the computers were back in the day! The captions is saying that when they needed to replace a bad tube, that mean they had 19,000 possible tubes that could be busted, thats a lot of tubes to check!

To the right, you should see one of the first Apple computers to be created. This is when Apple began to revolutionize what the computer could do and how small it can be. The mouse was a huge invention that broke the barrier of being able to control a cursor on screen.

Here is a great photo of Steve Jobs!

Surrealism

This style of art is one of my favorites due to the style of imagery it produces. The pieces are all very trippy due to the dream like style. My favorite one is the middle photo, the melting clocks resemble a dream because in a dream, time is non-existent.
Violent Games Cause Violent Reactions?

I came across a great video that discusses the violent video game issue. The main cause for everyone talking about these games as a bad influence, is honestly the real life kids who do in fact do something stupid from seeing a game. These games do have a rating scale, so isn't it up to the parents to watch what their kids play? I mean how can a 12 year old buy a M rated game with out their parents.

Xerox Project: Escaping Reality

I chose to take a simple, yet complex route on this project. I set up hands climbing up into Facebook. I showed this because in today's society, Facebook is used as a whole new world, where people do not always share the truth, but they create a new reality.

Grid Art

I really wanted to create something out of Solo Cups, but it took me a while to figure out what I could even make with just red and white. I noticed my Chicago Bulls hat and eyed the bull on the front of it. Check out my attempt at creating the bull!

New vs. Old

Check out this awesome timeline of film cameras! Can you believe that your iPhone can replace on of these bad boys?

Bored? Take A Fresh Look

I thought that seeing how this is an art class, I should throw up some of the art that I do! My line of work is mainly music videos, so if you are bored, or like music videos, check out our site!

Stop Motion Color

If you have not seen this stop motion Sony commercial, you are about to be amazed! The stop motion work that was created is just outstanding. I love the mix of stop motion and real city life. Watch the behind the scenes after!

Color

I wanted to share a couple of awesome Sony commercials!

This first one is the ball bouncing one. They shot this in San Francisco, and man does it look awesome! I wonder how many windows were broken after this. Can you imagine if they did not press record...

This second commercial to Sony's Color videos is insane, they really stepped up on the size of the shoot with this one!

Broadway For Sandy

I stumbled across this and thought that it was a great thing that they're doing! Check out the website for it, www.broadwayforsandy.com

Number 7

For my last clip, I went with a very simple scene. This scene shows how they can have a large scene and then with the simple use of lighting, they can isolate certain characters. Check it out!

Tarzan Gets #6

This trailer for the Tarzan show is what I chose for my sixth clip. I saw this on Lindsey's blog and had to snag it! The set design for this show seems to be one of the most advanced I've seen so far. Check out how they have the apes swinging around, and the whole stage designed to look like a forest.

CEO of Tech

Take a look at my 5th clip, this one features the CEO of Broadway technology  must I say more? It is insane what these people do!

Blue Man Group

For the fourth clip, I found a well known clip of the Blue Man Group. Most people know that these shows are awesome, but did you ever look at how crazy technical their stage work is?! Check out this clip, and if you have not been to one of these shows, add it to your to do list!

More Mermaid

This 3rd clip is taken again from The Little Mermaid play. When the camera zooms out, you can see the full set, and look how well designed even the walls are! They put so much time into creating these sets so the audience can get lost into a new reality.

Little Mermaid Stepping Up Her Game!

This second clip shows how advanced on set technology has gotten! Check out how intricate the background of this scene is!

Creating A Film On Stage

This first clip I found shows how well they can build a scene on just the small confines of a stage. This scene resembles a film to me in the sense that they are set up in a very detailed set.

The Minstrel Shows

Out of all the shows form back in the day, this one is the most controversial show in my mind. Disregarding my opinion, these were actually some of the first shows that became popular in America. The reasons that I find these shows controversial is because White people dressed up and painted their skin so they looked like African Americans. They acted out all the stereotypes that African Americans were a part of. It was basically just a way for White people to gloat the fact that they thought they were better then the African Americans.

Madama Butterfly

If you have not seen this animation, go check it out now!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E387c5RAhK4&feature=player_embedded

The animation entitled Madama Butterfly, was created by the ever so talented Pjotr Sapegin. The story behind the animations in this, is an emotional, and realistic story. Madama had met a man in the begining and they had sex, thus creating the "happily ever after" image in Madama's head. She thought that her and the man had something special between them, regardless of what the man thought. The sailor went away, and she was going to wait for him, no matter how long it took.

When the man comes back, he comes to grab his child and Madama is happy to see him, little did she know that he was going to take the kid and go start a new life with his new family, not Madama. She was instantly heart broken, and the animation comes to a end around the time when she is tearing apart her head and body. The images portrayed in the end of the animation showed the audience how much she really cared for the man, and how badly the event that just happened effected her.

Baroque House

Well I began to look around at wild and wealthy things around the world, and I came across a couple who began to attempt to build the largest house in the nation, and possibly in the world! It is beyond ridiculous, the house is 90,000 square feet. To put that in perspective, that is bigger then a 747 hanger! The project was put on hold when the market crashed in 2008. Do you think that their is any sensible reason to build this kind of house for one family? If so, comment, let me know what you think!

Here is a video ABC did on this project:

Introduction

What's going on readers? I'm Miles Cable, a sophomore at University of Tampa studying film and business marketing. I decided to take this class because it caught my attention with coveting both subjects, art, and of course, technology. I work in a field that is the exact mix of art and tech, so that drew me towards this class.
